VPN (Virtual Private Network)

Students, faculty, and staff can now connect securely to the NU campus network from off-campus using a VPN (VIrtual Private Network).

Enrolling in Northeastern's Two Factor Authentication (2FA) System

  • Use this link to access Northeastern University's Knowledge Base articles about 2FA.
  • Read the resulting article on "How do I enroll in Duo two-factor authentication (2FA)?" and use the included links to enroll and register your devices.
  • If you have already enrolled, you do not need to repeat this step
  1. To download the VPN Client, please use the following link: https://vpn.northeastern.edu (Note: you must enroll in 2FA first, as the link will require you to authenticate with it)
  2. On the VPN download page, log in with your Northeastern University credentials

Please go to this link for more instructions and details.

You must use the VPN to connect to on-campus computers via Remote Desktop, VNC, and similar protocols.

This service is provided and supported by NU ITS. Use your NU (not COE) credentials to connect to the VPN.
