Troubleshooting Student Solidworks Installations

If you are having difficulties installing Solidworks on your personal PC, please attempt the following steps:

  1. Make sure you are on a campus network or the University VPN before attempting to log into the instructions page.
    • Information on the University VPN can be found here
  2. Make sure you have completely uninstalled any previous versions of Solidworks before attempting a new installation.
    • This may include editing the Windows Registry to manually remove some keys; if you are not comfortable with registry editing, seek additional support!
  3. If you are still having problems, please send email to help@coe.neu.edu with screenshots of any specific error message being displayed, or stop by our 268 SN lab and speak with a PA.

If you successfully install Solidworks, but have issues getting the application to launch, try changing the start icon to use compatibility mode and/or administrative privileges. If you need assistance with this, please stop by our 268 SN lab and speak with a PA.
